In the wake of a recent cyber attack that disrupted its online services, UK retail giant Co-op has offered a £10 discount to its members as a goodwill gesture aimed at restoring customer confidence and compensating for the inconvenience.

The cyber incident, which affected the retailer’s self-service systems and some online functions, caused temporary outages that left many customers unable to complete purchases or access digital services.

In response, the Co-operative Group announced on Monday that all affected members would receive a £10 discount voucher redeemable in stores nationwide.

“We sincerely apologise to our members and customers for the disruption caused by the recent cyber incident,” a spokesperson for the company said. “This discount is a small way of saying thank you for your patience and loyalty.”

The attack, which occurred earlier this month, is believed to have targeted third-party systems linked to Co-op’s digital infrastructure. While investigations are ongoing, the company confirmed that no customer payment data was compromised.

Cybersecurity experts have praised the retailer’s quick communication and transparent handling of the incident, noting that such attacks are increasingly common in the retail sector.

The discount offer will be available for a limited time and is automatically applied to eligible Co-op membership accounts.

Customers are advised to update their passwords and remain vigilant, even as the company continues to reinforce its cybersecurity measures.

The Co-op said it remains committed to delivering safe and seamless shopping experiences both in-store and online, promising further updates as investigations progress.
