In his first post on Truth Social since his inauguration, US President Donald Trump announced early Tuesday the dismissal of four senior government officials appointed by his predecessor, with a warning that “over a thousand more” appointees are slated for removal.

“My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump declared in his signature brash tone.

The four officials dismissed include:

  • Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition,
  • Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council,
  • Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and
  • Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council.

“Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more coming soon,” Trump wrote, concluding the post with his trademark phrase, “YOU’RE FIRED!”

A Government in Flux

The announcement signals sweeping changes within the federal government as Trump fulfills campaign promises to overhaul the civil service and implement significant cost-cutting measures. His administration has hinted at a potential reduction in government departments and programs deemed inefficient or misaligned with his agenda.

Many government institutions are reportedly bracing for significant upheaval in the coming weeks. Trump has also expressed intentions to streamline operations and introduce reforms aimed at improving efficiency across agencies, although critics argue that such moves may destabilize key functions of government.

A Bold Start to Trump’s Return

The dismissals have sparked immediate debate among political analysts and lawmakers. Supporters of the president argue that the shake-up is necessary to install loyalists who align with Trump’s vision. Opponents, however, have raised concerns about governance continuity and the abruptness of the transition.

The dismissals and promised reforms are expected to dominate headlines in the days to come as the Trump administration sets the tone for its new tenure in the White House. For now, the message is clear: business as usual is no longer the order of the day in Washington.
