Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu have thrilled fans with their surprise mixed doubles partnership at Wimbledon, marking a highlight of Murray’s farewell tournament.

Murray, 37, announced his decision to retire later this year and opted out of singles play due to recovery from a recent back surgery. However, he will compete in men’s doubles alongside his brother Jamie and has now added the mixed doubles with Raducanu to his schedule.

Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, expressed her excitement about teaming up with Murray, calling it a childhood dream come true. Murray, who previously played mixed doubles with Serena Williams in 2019, described this opportunity as another special moment in his storied career.

The announcement of their partnership came after Murray’s practice session on Tuesday. He noted that doubles play offers a different physical challenge, one he’s eager to embrace despite his health concerns in singles matches.

The mixed doubles matches are scheduled to begin on Friday, following Murray’s anticipated men’s doubles opener with Jamie on Thursday.
