British Teen Jay Slater Reported Missing in Tenerife Mountain Region

A 19-year-old British man, Jay Slater from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, has been reported missing in the mountainous region of Tenerife. The last contact with Slater was at approximately 8:00 BST on Monday.

Last Known Contact

Jay Slater traveled to Tenerife with his friend Lucy to attend the NRG music festival. Lucy reported that Jay had called her, stating he was lost, needed water, and had only 1% battery remaining on his phone. Shortly after, his phone cut off, with his last known location being the mountainous Rural de Teno national park in the northwest of the island.

Search Efforts

Lucy, who has been actively searching for Jay, recounted that he had gone to stay with some new acquaintances he met during the holiday. Unaware of the distance from his accommodation, Jay set out on Monday morning to walk back, but never arrived. Lucy spent the entire day searching the mountain area and is preparing to continue the search.

Family and Authorities Involvement

Jay’s mother is en route to Tenerife to join the search efforts. The British Embassy has been notified, and a spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”

The situation remains critical as Jay Slater has not been heard from since his phone call on Monday. His family and friends are desperately seeking any information on his whereabouts, and local authorities are expected to intensify search efforts in the Rural de Teno national park.
